After being in the swimming pool business for over 35 years I have learned alot of the corporate ways of the pool business. Many of the once proud independently owned manufacturers of the industry have gone. The big three are all publicly owned companies now and not only have to answer to their customers, but now they must answer to their shareholders. This has damaged the reputation and quality of the industry as a whole and has made way for the top three companies to flip there nose to the consumer. They raise the prices without offering anything more in quality or better product designs. We still have the same old products or what we like to call in the south "putting lipstick on a pig" as they redress old products with new shells and call it "new and improved". Something that is also new to our industry is "planned obsolescence". I have been told this phrase in more than one seminar for these three. Products that are purposely designed to wear out and break so a new one can be installed more quickly then ever before. Why do we put up with it?
Reliant has a new way of doing business. Provide a reliable product at an affordable price! We make all the same products the big three have to offer, but we have not raised our prices in over three years. Covid did quite alot of damage to our industries supply chain. But that is long gone in the rear view mirror. There is just no excuse to continually raise prices for products 3-10% every 6-12months. Why continue to buy?
Brand loyalty is what it is all about. You had a product that looked a specific way and know how it operates. We even have a small percentage of customers that are even concerned with the color of the product that is running the pool! The extortionists within these companies understand this and know they have a captive audience and a consumer that wants the same ol' same ol'. Reliant is piercing that misnomer that you have to have the same brand expensive product to be a "quality" product.
We provide good quality pumps, filters, and chlorinators that truly work, but usually cost 20-40% less than the competition! We strive to stay in that lane of giving good service, reliable replacement parts, and a steady flow of well made products that will last just as long as the big three if not longer. So I ask folks, why spend the extra money? Swimming pools are already super expensive, why make it any more painful to your wallet!?
